In the 'Letter to the Editor', from Toy Soldier Collector (August/September 2013 Issue 53), rather than "putting-down", the films like 'Lawrence of Arabia', I was stating that it was ill-advised to be using these as a source of historical evidence. Importantly, "there is another type of supposedly WW1 period Ottoman Turkish officers’ buckle for sale. These are stamped plate two-part buckles, usually in gold metal. These are not original." [1] As can be seen in the extracted photo-still from the film 'Lawrence of Arabia', this buckle is clearly been worn by the actors, portraying Turkish Soldiers.
